9 events have been carried out within this project:

Event 1: Kick-Off Meeting in Alsbach-Hähnlein

Participation: The event involved 100 citizens, including 4 participants from the city of Elbasan / Tirana. (Albania), 2 participants from the city of Kozloduy (Bulgaria), 2 participants from the city of Praque 9 (Czech Republic), 2 participants from the city of Massamagrell (Spain), 2 participants from the city of Dimos Lokrón (Greece), 3 from the city of Diósd (Hungary), 5 participants from the city of Sulmona (Italy), 2 participants from the city of Lubaczów (Poland), and 78 local participants from Alsbach-Hähnlein (Germany).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Alsbach-Hähnlein (Germany), from 30/09/2021 to 03/10/2021.

Short description:  The aim of the event was to show examples of voluntary commitment to the community.

The main activities were the following programs:

  • Lecture by Prof. Dr. F. Leonhard “Europe between Visions and Politics: Why Do We Need Perspectives? “
  • Courage for the future - what young people at a European School expect from Europe. Presentation and Workgroups at the „Schuldorf Bergstraße -International School “
  • Discussion with the youth organisations of the political parties about their view of Europe.
  • Neighbourhood Assistance - Help for citizens in everyday life situations.
  • Asylum Alsbach-Hähnlein e.V. – Integration of refugees who urgently need support in the community and help for them to find their way around.
  • Advisory board for climate protection and sustainability - Consulting communal administration and communal council.
  • Fire brigade - Help with the forest fires on the Peloponnese.
  • Medical First Responder Alsbach – Early basic treatment provided by trained locals.
  • European Institute for Labour and Industrial Relations - Key topic is the European Social Dialogue policy.
  • Partnership Association PVAH – Aim is to initiate contacts between communities, join people and strengthen solidarity in Europe.

Event 2
Participation: The event involved 58  citizens, including  2 participants from the city of Sulmona (Italy), 3 participants from  city of  Lubaczow (Poland), 5 participants from the city of Alsbach–Hähnlein (Germany),  2 participants from the city Atalanti (Greece), 1 participant from the city of Elbasan (Albania), 2 participants from the city of Kozloduy (Bulgaria), 3 participants from the city of  Diósd (Hungary), 2 participants from the city of Prague-9 (Czech Republic) and 38 local participants from the city of Massamagrell (Valencia, Spain).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Massamagrell (Valencia, Spain) from 24/02/2022 to 27/02/2022 of February 2022.

Short description:  The aim of the event was to gather with Europeans and locals, especially youth where the inclusion of migrants was analyzed and discussed through different workshops and activities. The paper of migrants is crucial in our democratic scenario so that’s why this event focused on drawing common solutions from different perspectives: on media and on society where migrants can co-habit in more safer places by counter hating discrimination.

The activities that followed the second event are the following in accordance with the agenda:

  • Official opening of the KEYtoEU project in Massamagrell by:
  • Paco Gómez, Mayor of Massamagrell.
  • Bartolomé Nofuentes, Advisor to the Presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana on European Projects and Funds.
  • Welcome by Hans Herrmann, President of PVAH (Germany), and Miklos Marian, Project Manager KEYtoEU.
  • Lecture by Bartolomé Nofuentes: “Examples of solidarity and development of European Projects in Quart de Poblet”.
  • Open Debate with youth through the topic: “inclusion of migrants through social media (Twitter, Instagram, Telegram, etc).
  • Visit to the Marjal of Rafalell and Vistabella.
  • Examples of good practices of local solidarity
  • Workshop with scout groups from Massamagrell -Presentation of “Blood Minerals” Initiative.
  • Workshop: Youth in Marxa by Valencian Youth Council.
  • Guided tour about the historic center of Valencia.
  • Closing ceremony:Summary and conclusions of the meeting – Paco Gómez/Hans Hermann/Miklós Marián.

Event 3

Participation: The event involved 55 citizens, including 3 participants from the city of Alsbach-Haehnlein (Germany).  3 participants from the city of Prague-9 (Czech Republic), 4 participants from the city of Kozloduy (Bulgaria), 2 participants from the city of Atalanti (Greece), 2 participants from the city of Massamagrell (Spain), 3 participants from the city of Tirana (Albania), and 38 participants from the city of Diósd (Hungary).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Diósd, Hungary from  08/03/2022  to 11/03/2022.
Short description:  The aim of the event was to show a positive example of cohabitation between nationalities, based on the historical presence of the German population called Swabians in the City Diósd.

The main activities were the following programs:

  • Lecture on the settlement of the Swabians - historical review and analysis: the integration of the German minority into the majority Hungarian society. A positive example of harmonious coexistence between people; a manifestation of solidarity in today's context.
  • 32 years of twinning relationship between the cities Diósd and Alsbach-Haehnlein - the Swabian roots.
  • Introduction of the German Association for the Preservation of Traditions.
  • German nationality education in Eötvös József German Nationality Primary School of Diósd, presentation of the exchange relationship between the schools of Diósd and Alsbach-Haehnlein; intergenerational solidarity in modern Europe.
  • Photo exhibition about the life of Swabians in Diósd

Event 4

Participation: The event involved 62 citizens, including 3 participants from the city of Alsbach-Haehnlein (Germany), 46 participants from the city of Prague-9 (Czech Republic), 2 participants from the city of Kozloduy (Bulgaria), 1 participant from the city of Atalanti (Greece), 2 participants from the city of Massamagrell (Spain), 4 participants from the city of Tirana (Albania), 2 participants from the city of Sulmona (Italy) and 2 participants from the city of Diósd (Hungary).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Prague, Czech republic from  24/03/2022  to 27/03/2022.
Short description:  The aim of the event was discuss amongst the partnership the topic: Solidarity helps the integration of foreign people: share good practices and dig deeper into the subject of solidarity, integration and further development of European Union.

The main activities were the following programs:

  • Lecture on the Prague 9 Municipality - Turning industrial history into modern residential district
  • Simulation of European Parliaments for students
  • Solidarity helps the Integration of Foreign People: We stand with Ukraine
  • Forum: Sharing best practice about integration of foreigners
  • Interactive Workshop: Simulation of European Parliaments with Prague 9 high school and gymnasium students - discussion with students and the Youth Democrats NGO
  • Study visit I: Solidarity as a tool of integration (Homeless Blues, Prague 9)
  • Study visit II: Solidarity as a tool of integration (Community garden Paletka, Prague 9)

Event 5

Participation: The event involved  around 45  citizens, including  3 participants from the city of Elbasan/Tirana (Albania), 3 participants from the city of Kozloduy (Bulgaria),  3 participants from the city of Diòsd (Hungary), 2 participants from the city of Prague 9 (Czech Republic), 7 participants from the city of Alsbach Haehnlein (Germany),  2 participants from the city of Atalanti (Greece), 2 participants from the city of Massamagrell (Spain), 3 participants from the city of Lubaczow (Poland), and 20 participants from the city of Sulmona (Italy).

Location/Dates: The event took place in Sulmona (Italy), from 21/04/2022 to 24/04/2022

Short description:  The aim of event was to represent the topic of solidarity through the participation of students from local schools, who have provided meanings by artistic expression.

The main activities were:

  • organization of a flash mob in the central square of the city of Sulmona, in front of the statue of the latin poet Ovidio.
  • Reading of Ovid's poem in the topic of love and solidarity translated into each of the languages ​​of the host countries;
  • Interactive representation with guests at the presence of the local citizenship;
  • Organization of a public musical dance performance by school bands on the theme of solidarity and cohesion between the countries of the European Union.

Event 6

Participation: The event involved 34 citizens, including 5 participants from the city of Alsbach-Haehnlein (Germany).  1 participant from the city of Prague-9 (Czech Republic),   4 participants from the city of Kozloduy (Bulgaria), 4 participants from the city of Diósd (Hungary), 2 participants from the city of Massamagrell (Spain), 2 participants from the city of Tirana (Albania), 3 participants from the city of Lubaczów (Poland), 1 participant from the city of Sulmona (Italy) and 12 participants from the city of Atalanti (Greece),

Location / Dates: The event took place in Αtalanti Municipality of Lokroi, Greece from 12/05/2022 to 15/05/2022.

Short description:  The aim of the event was to present the ways in which the integration of minorities and especially the Roma in the Municipality of Lokroi has been implemented in the last 3 years, through the help of the Social Services of the Municipality of Lokroi.

The main activities were the following programs:

  • Lecture by Mrs Elena Kyriakou, Deputy Mayor of Social Policy, Protection, Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture how to share best practice about integration of minorities and Roma population of the area.
  • Presentation of Elite Team Special Missions of Lokroi Municipality by Mrs.Maria Tzanakaki, Deputy Mayor of Touristic Development, Maintenance of Green & Environment, Volunteerism and Stray Animals. To be a volunteer for us is very important because we believe that is the first step to solidatity.
  • Visit to the Archaeological Castle of Kynos, the Archaeological Temple of elafivolos Artemis in Kalapodi and the Archaeological Museum of Atalanti, in order to understand the connection and ideology of solidarity during ancient times in the Municipality of Lokroi.

Event 7

Participation: The event involved 53 citizens, including 2 participants from the city of Alsbach-Haehnlein (Germany), 3 participants from the city of Sulmona (Italy),  2 participants from the city of Kozloduy (Bulgaria), 2 participants from the city of Atalanti (Greece), 5 participants from the city of Diósd (Hungary) and 39 participants from the city of Lubaczow (Poland).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Lubaczow, Poland from 09/06/2022  to 12/06/2022.
Short description:  The aim of the event was to show the importance of European solidarity in the face of global conflicts on the example of helping refugees from Ukraine and show traces of the common heritage of material and non-material culture as examples of solidarity and integration from the past.

The main activities were the following programs:

  • The importance of European solidarity in the face of global conflicts on the example of helping refugees from Ukraine.
  • Solidarity through the eyes of the school community of the High School in Lubaczów.
  • European solidarity built for several decades - Student exchange with Tostedt / Germany
  • Solidarity beyond the borders of the European Union - building ties between students from Poland and Ukraine.
  • Meaning of solidarity - workshops with the participation of a delegations of project partners and high school students.
  • Meeting at the border crossing with Ukraine - activities of public services, local government, organizations and institutions in the face of the refugee crisis caused by the war conflict.
  • Traces of the common heritage of material and non-material culture as examples of solidarity and integration from the past:
  • Traces of Ukrainian culture in St. Paraskevi Church in Radruż,
  • German cultural heritage on the example of Podlesie,
  • Great borderland cultural melting pot in Kresowa Osada (sightseeing, workshops, local history museum)

Event 8

Participation: The event involved 130 citizens, including 5 participants from the city of Alsbach-Haehnlein (Germany), 2 participants from the city of Prague-9 (Czech Republic),  3 participants from the city of Diósd (Hungary), 4 participants from the city of Atalanti (Greece), 2 participants from the city of Lubazcow (Poland), 3 participants from the city of Sulmona (Italy), 1 participant from the city of Tirana (Albania), and 110 participants from the city/municipality of Kozloduy (Bulgaria).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Kozloduy, Bulgaria from 23/06/2022 to 26/06/2022.
Short description:  The aim of the event was to show a positive example of cohabitation between nationalities, based on the historical presence of Serbian, Wallachian and Roma population in the City Kozloduy.

The main activities were the following programs:

  • Policy to support minority groups (Roma minority). Good practices and discussion on working with the largest minority group in Kozloduy.
  • Solidarity in action – visit to the high school “St.st. Cyril and Methodius” in the village of Butan – visit to a school in the Municipality of Kozloduy, which actively implements integration policies.
  • Wallachian customs and traditions – rite “Kalush” – that represents the Wallachian population.
  • Volunteer initiatives – children from the Youth and children Parliament at the Municipality of Kozloduy – introduction of the Youth and children parliament and discussion on what they strive to do.
  • Border Police – experience with refugees.
  • Visit to the park in the Turlak neighbourhood – a story of Bosilegrad (Serbian) migrants and the story of the Hungarian millers.
  • Sabados family history – A Hungarian immigrant family that played a role in the economic life of Kozloduy
  • Meeting with retirement clubs and viewing the fish dishes of the Fish Festival – In practice brought all communities together – Roma, Serbian immigrants, local Wallachians
  • Sailing on the National Steamship Museum “Radetzky” with a talk about the ship and Hristo Botev – national hero
  • Solidarity in the policy of the European institutions – meeting with Andrey Novakov, Bulgarian representative in the European Parliament

Event 9

Participation: The event involved 33 citizens, including 5 participants from the city of Alsbach-Haehnlein (Germany),  3 participants from the city of Prague-9 (Czech Republic), 2 participants from the city of Kozloduy (Bulgaria), 3 participants from the city of Atalanti (Greece), 2 participants from the city of Massamagrell (Spain), 5 participants from the city of Diósd (Hungary), 4 participants from the city of Sulmona (Italy), 2 participants from the city of Lubaczow (Poland) and 7 persons from the city Tirana (Albania).

Location / Dates: The event took place in Tirana (Albania), from 07/07/2022 to 10/07/2022.
Short description:  The aim of the event was to show a positive example of engagements of youth people towards European Union and also the transformation of Albania from communism area towards Europe.

The main activities were the following programs:

  • Europa House – Foundation of it with a general approach to increase the level of information and public awareness about the European Union in the Republic of Albania, as well as about the country accession process ensuring that comprehensive information is responding to the major demand for information especially after the country gained the status of candidate-country for EU membership.
  • Tirana European Youth Capital 2022 - created to empower young people, to incite participation of young people in society and to strengthen the European identity.
  • Introduction of the National Youth Agency of Albania
  • Visiting the Multifunctional Center “Nishtulla” which its aim is to improve the access of the Roma and Egyptian community to social services through civil registration, community policing, involvement in professional courses, as well as establishing and strengthening the networks of Roma mediators in the field of health, education, child protection.
  • Bunk’ART – exhibition showing the Albania during the communism area, inside a bunker.
